Cortisone is injected into the joint space which is meant to help reduce inflammation and/or swelling of the tissue surrounding the joint space. This may also help reduce pain in the area.
Baker’s Cyst

Tennis Elbow
Cortisone with local anesthetic are injected into the elbow to relieve the elbow pain.
Carpal Tunnel
Injection of steroids into the carpal tunnel can be an effective method of treatment. The steroid is used to reduce tendon swelling and ease pressure on the nerve.
Trigger Points/Myofascial Pain
Trigger points are areas of muscle spasm, which are usually located in the upper back and shoulder areas. This can be caused by myofascial pain syndrome or fibromyalgia.
